TAKEDOWN PROJECT: METHODOLOGY

TAKEDOWN HAVE USED A MIXED METHODOLOGY THAT INCLUDES A QUANTITATIVE EMPIRICAL FRAMEWORK WITH QUALITATIVE EMPIRICAL INPUTS FROM INTERVIEWS, FOCUS GROUPS AND WORKSHOPS.

In practice we have:

  • Conducted 112 interviews among professionals and main stakeholders. – Reached around 600 first-line practitioners by means of the online survey using the Qualtrics Online Survey tools;
  • Organized 11 Focus Groups in 8 countries across the European Union, which themselves engaged 107 law enforcement agents and front line practitioner organizations working on Organised Crime and Terrorist Networks;
  • Organized 4 workshops in 4 different European countries: Germany, Spain, Italy and Belgium.

Since we first met at the kick-off meeting in Vienna, our partners have been actively working together in six different meetings in Granada, Zurich, Leeds, Darmstadt and Prague. During meetings partners had the opprotunity to review the recent work and discuss the next steps and how to coordinate and support each other.

We have also published four public reports on, 1) Literature exploration and open access bibliography, 2) European Baseline report on Organized Crime/Terrorist Networks, 3) a Methodology and different questionnaire for the quantitative survey, and an Empirical Research Report.

We are active in the field of counter-radicalization with training courses and research activities addressing the needs of first-line practitioners from the public and private sectors all around Europe.
